# How Many Drinks Do You Need for a Wedding Boba Bar?

![A small clear cup of iced milk tea on a plain white table](https://images.unsplash.com/photo-1578612599092-3e97d268ab41?auto=format&fit=crop&w=1600&q=70)

## How many drinks do you need for a wedding boba bar?

Drinks are unlimited during your service window, so the honest answer is that you do not buy a number of drinks at all. You buy a window. The real question is whether your staffing can serve the demand inside it.

Guest count sets your package price, and that price does not move if people come back for seconds. What guest count does change is throughput. Service speed and timing shape whether everyone gets served comfortably before the bar closes.

## Do people come back for seconds?

Some do, and they are welcome to. Service is unlimited for your booked window, so a guest who comes back for a second cup costs you nothing extra. Across a two hour window most people land somewhere between one and two drinks, with plenty stopping at one because boba is filling. The [packages](/pricing) are priced per guest, not per cup, so refills are a staffing question rather than a budget question.

## How fast can a bobarista actually serve my guest list?

One bobarista pours 60 to 80 drinks per hour, so a 100-guest [wedding](/weddings) can be fully served inside about 90 minutes with a single bobarista working steadily. That's usually enough for a two-hour open bar window with some cushion. But if you're packing your whole guest list into a tight 45-minute cocktail hour, the math gets tighter and a line can form.

## When do I need a second bobarista?

Staffing follows your guest count and your service window together, not a headcount threshold. One bobarista covers about 65 drinks an hour and up to 100 guests, so a short window with a big crowd needs a second pair of hands at $225 while the same crowd over a longer window may not. If your reception squeezes everyone into a single 90 minute open window, expect the second bobarista. Unlimited service makes this matter more, not less, since guests coming back for seconds is demand your staffing has to absorb.

## Does topping count change how many drinks I need?

No, topping count changes flavor variety, not drink quantity. Whether you book Double Sip, Triple Sip, or Quad Sip, the guest-count math for staffing and pour time stays the same. More toppings just means more choices in the same line, not more time per cup.

## What's the tapioca pearl clock, and why does it matter for headcount planning?

Cooked tapioca pearls have roughly a four-hour usable window before they harden, which is why boba service gets scheduled to a tight block instead of staying open all evening. This isn't a staffing limit, it's a food quality limit. Popping boba and crystal boba don't have this constraint, since they're shelf stable, so if your reception runs long, ask whether the topping mix can lean toward those later in the night.

## What's a diagnostic tell that a vendor hasn't thought through your headcount?

If a vendor quotes you a flat number of drinks with no mention of your reception's actual time window or whether you'll need a second staffer, they haven't looked closely at your day. Guest count and service window are two different variables, and a vendor who only asks about one of them is guessing on the other.

## Ask your vendor this

1. Based on my guest count, will one bobarista keep up, or do I need a second?
2. What's my actual service window, and does the pour rate cover it comfortably?
3. Does the tapioca pearl freshness window affect my drink selection later in the reception?
4. What happens if my guest count changes after the booking fee is paid?
5. How do you handle a rush right after the toasts, when most guests hit the bar at once?

The Boba Bar Experience prices every DFW wedding to guest count first, then checks that number against your reception's actual time window before confirming staffing. Send your headcount and your open bar hours together, not separately, and you'll get a quote that matches your actual day instead of a generic guess.
